Storyboard and Script creation - Team Discussion
Youth For Environment Education And Development Foundation (YFEED Foundation)
Hello Friends,
I would like to share some information about Storyboard.
- What
is a storyboard?
Storyboard is the process of presenting story in graphics in the form of illustration and images. It is creating a visual script, or draft, of the shots and scene changes in a video or movie. It is used mostly in media companies like television, movie, games, commercial or play.
- Why it is important?
To share and explain the vision of video with others and to make production work easier and smoother.
- What to include in Storyboard?
- Sketch
- Shots
- Description (Dialogue, Music, Audio)
I have shared a sample example of storyboard which I have created using Celtx Software and another one is from (https://www.learnupon.com/blog/storyboards-better-elearning-courses/).

Hi Soney,
Thanks for your great post sharing your storyboard and another example, very helpful and inspiring for everyone!
I see that you used the free Celtx storyboarding software.
I hope you can share a bit about your experience using that software in the web conference this Saturday!
Brant
hallo soney, see your storyboard is very good story, and hopefully can run well.
thank you :)
Regards
Annet
Hi All friends from YFEED,
I hope you all have gone through the post from Soney Rai, That was a simple an easiest way to understand about storyboard to a layman.
I have shared a couple of links where you can learn in-depth knowledge of storyboard and along with some online free tools to create a storyboard. I want you guys to try some tools at your own and share your experiences along with sample (if possible) in this forum.

I have heard many people are asking about how can I create a storyboard if I don't have sketching knowledge. I just want to say you don't need to have a good sketch knowledge to create a storyboard, all you need to have is a good story.
I hope this will help you all to achieve what you want. Don't forget to share your experiences.
Regards,
Krishna Khadka
Hey guys,
Here i have a attached a file. Its a draft script pdf file, guys make comments, add new ideas and make it short and concise as well.
Abinash
Hi Abinash,
Your script is a good start, and I appreciated your presentation in the web conference which paired each scene in your script with a hand-drawn sketch of a scene!
Your example inspired Udval, leader of the Ger Community Mapping Center, to hand-draw her own scenes in an MS Word table (see her post here).
If possible, can you try her format using your sketches?
You could take a picture of each sketch and then Insert Picture in MS Word to put them into a 3-column table the way she did....
Just a suggestion: if you have a better method I'd be happy to hear about it!
Brant
Hi Brant and friends,
I have shared herewith attached the storyboard and script in PDF of our project representing YFEED team. Please do comments, add new ideas if you have.
Abinash
Dear Brant and Colleagues,
I have shared herewith attached our draft video script in PDF on our project of YFEED Foundation. Please, kindly comment and provide your insights to my initial draft storyboard script.
Your's Respectfully,
Anish.
Hello Anish,
I think your draft video script reads quite well, and explains the contextual background of Nepal and the need for the BioChar project.
I suggest that you insert scene markers into the script, such as <Scene 1> to designate where the different visual scenes will be displayed during the narration of the script.
Two other suggestions:
- the script seems a bit dry, more like a speech. How can you "pump it up" to increase the drama and get better engagement with your audience?
- once you have a dramatic script, you need to find a narrator that is capable of reading it dramatically. Do you know anyone that is a radio DJ, or a television news reader, who has a pleasant, resonant tone and good modulation to convey emotional content?
