1. Greenery: no. of trees planted would be a significant criteria to ensure greenery in the environment.

2. Strict rules: to ensure nobody cuts trees for his/her greed. this would help maintain the greenery of the city.

3. Minimum Wastage: if there will be minimum wastage then automatically the city would be eco-friendly and using eco-friendly ways on daily basis

4. low carbon emissions

Looking forward for a healthy discussion. Also, it would be great if you all give feedback

Hi everyone!!

It would be great if you all also propose your ideas so that we can have a fruitful discussion and decide the criteria.

I would also like to propose one more criteria

5. Sustainable development: it will help to judge the utilisation of resources and prevent from excessive use.

Hoping to hear from everyone:))

Yes Bhanvi, strict rules seems like a good point. Also, greenery seems quite important as well. Eg-  people work hard to make a developed city with the best infrastructure but at the same time it can be observed that cities look more like concrete jungles.

Hi everyone

One important criterion which I feel should be used to judge green cities is the amount of waste which is produced by factories when they are producing items or appliances which are to be used to build a green city and the use of the resources used to make them. One simple example is solar cells. Solar energy is a renewable form of energy and one of the cleanest as well, however, the production process of solar cells itself pollutes the environment. Moreover, the availability of special grade silicon used to make solar cells is limited as well.

Hi guys

Another important factor which I feel is the education factor. If the minds of the children are moulded in a correct manner from the very beginning, our whole mother Earth would be an ideal green world in no time.

Another important criterion that can be used to judge green cities is the awareness factor. It might seem quite related to education but it encompasses several other things as well. Eg- Socio-Cultural Festivals, Activities, Official Campaigns, people living together in a  neighbourhood coming together for conducting simple activities etc. It is important to keep this spirit of a clean and sustainable environment throughout our lives.
