Green city according to me is the sustainable city with environmental conservation facilities.

Some of the criterias according to me for judging the green cities are:-

1)Use of electronic automobiles:

There should be less use of fossil fuels so that the environment can be conserved and at the same time the perpectual resources can be used and preserved for our future generation. It is really necessary to maintain the environmental sanitation. There should be use of alternative sources of energy.

2)Afforestation and sanitation campaign:

There should be proper plantation of green plants so that there will be proper maintainence of breathing area. There should be maintainence of sanitation and cleanliness around the city so that there wont be any disturbance to the environmental components and both biotic and abiotic aspects.

Hi all!

In my opinion sewage system can be a criteria for judging a clean city because of the following reason:

Sewers are underground conduits for carrying off drainage water, waste material and substances carrying toxins.

Sewers are essential for the urban infrastructure as it functions and helps in keeping the urban environment safe from flooding and it also prevents spread of water borne diseases. It safely transports water containing waste to the waste water treatment works.

Sewers play an extremely important role in keeping the cities clean hence they can be considered as a criteria for judging a green city.

hey anshi!!

Can we move to further discussion and for that we probably meed all of our consensus to move to our final discussion.Lets start discussing over our criterias for judging green cities

According to me judging criteria for a green city should be:

1) FOREST COVER

Urban forests play an important role in benefitting the environmental conditions of their respective cities. They moderate local climate, slowing wind and stormwater, and filter air and sunlight.

2) NON CONVENTIAL SOURCES  OF ENERGY

The non-conventional sources of energy are gaining importance. This energy is abundant, renewable, pollution free and eco-friendly. Solar Energy, Tidal Energy, Wave Energy, Geothermal Energy, Wind Energy, etc. are the important non-conventional sources of energy. These clean energy sources are non-pollutant, produce minimal or no waste products, and don't contribute to global warming

3) LOW LEVELS OF POLLUTION

Clean air is important to human and animal health because pollutants can cause harm in various ways depending on the pollutant and the timescale of the exposure. Life expectancy and quality can be significantly reduced in places with clean air problems.

Unsustainable development in cities arises due to unawareness among people which can only be combated if initatives at an individual level are taken.

Please send me the feedback .

Lets develop our group's criteria for judging a green city .

The second criteria can be the use of green fuels. Green fuels should be criteria for judging a green city because:

Green fuel is also known as biofuel, is a type of fuel distilled from plants and animal materials, believed by some to be more environmentally friendly than the widely-used fossilfuels that power most of the world. In the desperate search for alternate energy sources, green fuel has evolved as a possible fueling option as the world drains its fossil fuel resources.

Since biofuels can be made from renewable resources, they cause less pollution to the planet. However, that is not the only reason why the use of biofuels is being encouraged. They release lower levels of carbon dioxide and other emissions when burnt. Although the production of biofuels creates carbon dioxide as a byproduct, it is frequently used to grow the plants that will be converted into the fuel. This allows it to become something close to a self sustaining system.

Green fuels contribute in conservation of environment,Thus usage of green fuels in a city can be criteria to judge a green city.

The third criteria can be the type of transportatio sustem the city has,

Our personal transportation choices have a huge impact on air quality. What we drive and how we drive impacts the environment. Motor vehicles give off more than half of all carbon monoxide and hydrocarbon emissions in Minnesota. These emissions, including microscopic particles, can contribute to breathing and heart problems along with an elevated risk of cancer.

Public transport is an alternative to the use of private cars and presents a number of advantages: high capacity, lower cost for the user, reliable travel times not affected by congestion (for metro, tramways, and busses on reserved lanes), integrated services, and access to central and densely populated urban areas.Public transport is an alternative to the use of private cars and presents a number of advantages: high capacity, lower cost for the user, reliable travel times not affected by congestion (for metro, tramways, and busses on reserved lanes), integrated services, and access to central and densely populated urban areas.

hello aishi! According to my opinion forest cover and sewage system management as well as less level of pollution can be categorized as good criterias for judging the city.

Can we move to the finalizing of the criterias for judging our green city for completion of our project??

Yes .

I also think the same.

Hi Anshriti!

Yes, We can certainly finalize on the following criterias:

  • sewage system
  • forest cover
  • pollution level
